Merry Christmas, everyone!
I’m a little late posting our weekly update today. When we can get the family together, we have our Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve. That way, we get to rest on Christmas Day and enjoy leftovers. This year, everyone was off work, so I spent the day in the kitchen with my mom, sisters, and sister-in-law, watching the ham in the oven and mixing up casseroles. The fridge decided to stop working in the middle of everything, but thankfully it started working after we defrosted it for an hour.
Earlier in the week, we finished breaking down our summer camp and did some supply shopping. Starting on Tuesday, though, the festivity began.
There was cookie baking…

and candy making…

and, of course, pies.

It was a crazy year, so we were more relaxed than normal, opting for easier treats than some years. We were in a hurry, and we ran into trouble using the stove in this apartment a few times. Surprisingly, everything turned out great.

So now, it’s the night before Christmas, and the whole apartment is a stir with laughter, board games, snacking, and someone is watching “A Charlie Brown Christmas.” This year, I’m thankful to be having the adventure of our lives. I’m thankful we are all together. And most of all, I’m thankful for the Reason for this season, and how He gives meaning to it all.
